The Collegiate Players will present The Fantasticks by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt at SPARC (The School for the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community) on Thursday and Friday, April 26 and 27 at 7:30 and Saturday, April 28 at 4:00.
The Fantasticks premiered Off-Broadway in 1960 and ran for over 42 years making it the longest-running musical in the world. This funny and romantic musical tells the story of a boy and a girl who fall in love, two of their parents who try to keep them apart, and a swashbuckling narrator who asks the audience to use their imagination and follow him into a world of moonlight and magic. This moving tale of young love is punctuated by a bountiful series of catchy, memorable songs, many of which have become classics.
