The Man Who Came to Dinner - a Comedy in Three Acts by Moss Hart and George S. Kauffman
Sheridan Whiteside, crtitic, lecturer, wit, radio orator and intimate friend of the great and near great, has come for dinner. And he’s not leaving. A broken hip and time on his hands make for a comically tumultuous six week confinement in the home of the Stanleys, a typical midwestern family in 1939, pre-war America, as the surly Whiteside proceeds to meddle, manipulate and wreak general havoc on the town of Masalia, Ohio, by insulting everyone in his path. Bringing with him penguins, convicts, an octopus and several insecure Hollywood celebrities, Whiteside turns the Stanley household upside-down during the Christmas holiday in Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman’s classic comedy.
