ABOUT ABOUT

For high school students engaged in their community, TEDxYouth@RVA will be a unique experience with interesting talks from incredible people. In addition to free food, great music, and entertainment, students will participate in an evening of sharing ideas on issues that matter to them.  These ideas will inspire positive change that will lead to meaningful transformations for the students and the communities around them.

This event is also open to parents, family, mentors, and friends!

TEDxYouth@RVA will incorporate the theme of TEDxYouthDay: Worlds Imagined. This theme is meant to bring in a variety of speakers that view the world in different ways. At TEDYouth — and the TEDxYouthDay 2014 events happening the same day around the globe — young people will gather to explore the theme: "Worlds Imagined." They'll hear mind-shifting stories and big ideas in a broad array of topics that impact the world today. They'll envision new scenarios for our future, and think through how they can contribute to its creation.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).
